“The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them” (Proverbs 20:7). Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

“Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out” (Proverbs 20:5). Sometimes the treasure of good counsel needs to be mined.

“Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest” (Proverbs 20:4). The best time to plant was 20 years ago; the second best time is today.

“Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling” (Proverbs 20:3). Fight for principles and life, not for preferences.

“Wine produces mockers; alcohol leads to brawls. Those led astray by drink cannot be wise” (Proverbs 20:1). A simple question worth sitting with: how is your relationship with alcohol affecting your life?

“If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will turn your back on knowledge” (Proverbs 19:27). Familiarity can quietly become a reason to stop paying attention.

“If you punish a mocker, the simpleminded will learn a lesson; if you correct the wise, they will be all the wiser” (Proverbs 19:25). A lead foot and a few speeding tickets taught this lesson the hard way.

“Lazy people take food in their hand but don’t even lift it to their mouth” (Proverbs 19:24). Sometimes what’s missing isn’t opportunity, but the will to use what’s already in your hands.
